Jake Jensen was not, let's say, naturally a morning person. Yes, when he was being all he could be he was up with the rest of the Army, jogging and sweating like an idiot, but that wasn't his first inclination. Or second. His inclination was to be up until all hours absolutely destroying some kids in a first-person shooter game and then really rubbing it in that he was old enough to both buy beer and grow a sweet goatee. Sometimes he would take both of those abilities to a bar in search of companionship, which, though he didn't remember doing so last night, appeared to be the case this morning.

This bed was sweet. And enormous. He stretched out his arms and legs, reveling in the feel of sheets that had definitely been washed more recently than his had, and rubbed up against a hairy leg that definitely wasn't his.

Okay. Okay. This was fine. He was an open-minded guy! He--very smoothly, okay--slid his foot up that leg again trying to decide if the leg hair was free-spirited-lady-with-no-time-for-societal-expectations hair or, you know, dude hair.

Both of which would be fine! A-Okay! Nothing to freak out about! He was definitely not freaking out and he'd shoot anyone who said he was.

[OOC: Steve is Jake Jensen from The Losers for the weekend! Open for that dude he's definitely not married to.]

After being blocked into his apartment last Thursday with enormous trunks labeled "THOMAS" and "MIRANDA" and "THE GODDAMN BRITISH NAVY", Flint had not been fit for company for a week.

(Leaving the building only to get coated in goo on Wednesday had reinforced that hermit-y impulse.)

But alas, the wheels of capitalism ground on, and so he might even attempt to sell a book today. He'd unlocked the shop's door, after all, and he still had a small-ish bookcase of books he'd read and didn't care for.

Every other book he was keeping, though. Small steps.

The Ink Spot was open. Sort of.

The Troopers today were clustered around Ralph, who had his mobile phone out. There was currently a heated argument happening regarding what, from Watts could gather, was some sort of game played on the device? Apparently there was a riddle that needed to be solved in order to progress, and the Troopers couldn't agree on a possible answer.

Good morning, everyone! It's Captain Steve Rogers with the news of a much less...well, I'd say 'emotionally heavy' Thursday, but the squirrels are holding acorns like they aren't afraid to throw them, so I'll keep that to myself. Even though it was funny.

*sounds of acorns being thrown*

Quite a start to the day. Let's get to classes. Ethical Dilemmas was given the day off--thank you, Liliana--Philosophy of Food took a quick trip to a museum exhibit in London, and Breakfast Foods worked on mastering pancakes, waffles, and French toast.

In town, Liz was bravely facing down month-end spreadsheets, Luma was expanding her knowledge of the dresses and makeup for sale at Pixie Dust, and Steven stopped work at the museum for lunch and selfies with Watts.

Finally, it was open mic night at Groovy Tunes, with Stewart performing lightning-themed music, Charlie playing Viking songs--like cheers for the football team?--and Jack, after some prodding, playing piano.

And that's everything! Have a good weekend!

There was a weird, very shiny wooden statue in the store. Harley honestly didn't pay it much mind, until she happened to trip over something on the floor right by it.

And it felt perfectly reasonable to her to right herself and then immediately whip around to point a highly accusatory finger at the statue.

"I'm watchin' ya, pal!" she told it. "I'm serious!"

The statue said nothing.

Today when they met at Portalocity, Lana was dressed in her Earth clothes, though for previous classes it had been her own galaxy's. She was also wearing a very bright blue scarf. And if you looked close enough to notice, blue contact lenses.

"Today we're headed to the capitol world of the Galactic Republic," she announced. "It's known as Coruscant. The entire planet is one city thousands of levels deep. We'll be heading to a marketplace, since shopping seems to be popular. You can find goods from hundreds of worlds here. A few words of caution: before buying anything, make sure it's safe for humans and for your own species if you're not human." She felt she'd better cover all bases. "Do not go anywhere that isn't public. Do not wander far from the market. Do not, under any circumstances, go down more than two levels."

She gestured at her scarf. "I should be easy to spot. If you need anything or anybody gives you trouble, find me."

With that, she led them into a bustling city square where stalls and shops filled a wide plasteel and synthcrete walkway. If you looked over the side, you would see very far down. Craft large and small zoomed in sketchily-defined lanes above, around, and below. People of all species bartered and bickered for goods.

Don't worry, there probably wouldn't be any blasters or lightsabers pulled.

Probably.

"Good afternoon," Thor told them. "Blake is unable to join you today," because his leg was giving him absolute hell so he'd opted against continued corporeal existence.

"Oh! National Yo-Yo Day? Sweet!"

Prompto was stoked to come into the store for his shift that day and see what Apu had set up. Bright and colorful yo-yos on display and on sale, with a small table of a few of them so that people could just sort of play around with them and give them a try. He went straight for a yellow one, of course, grinning broadly as he tossed it in his hands a little before starting to pull off a few little tricks here and there.

He was a gunslinger! He was good with his hands! Also there were a lot of idle hours during the Long Night, and he had trouble staying still a lot of the times so it gave him something to do with his hands while also maybe trying to impress peop--

"Hey," the trick he was currently trying to do fell short as, all of a sudden, Apu bustled over, shoulder-checked him, and started taking down the display. "Wait, what's going..."

He watched as Apu replaced all the yo-yo stuff with gardening stuff, and he pouted.

"That's just cold, dude," he said, sighing, and feeling a little hurt, too, even though he felt like he shouldn't. But he felt like he and Apu had made progress, and now he was changing up the whole holiday just because Prompto was enthusiastic about the first one.

Whatever. It was fine. He was here to work, anyway, not just play with yo-yos, and so now he was going to go slink over to the register and definitely not pout while still playing with his yo-yo.

Eleanor had some work to do today, but not necessarily Plant Parenthood-specific work. Well, sure, of course, obviously there was some of that, too, but she and Luma had received a nice little care package from their mother, which included letters, and Eleanor's letter in particular included a small list of things that the villagers had come to the house, interested to see if Eleanor could help with. Thankfully, it was all pretty simple stuff that she could put together pretty easily, but there were a few things on there that were going to require a little research and a little work and poking around the shop to see if they had them or if she'd need to put in an order for herself.

And honestly, being here already really did make it easier, so she at least felt pretty good about having known that her employment here would really put her in a good place for her work back home, and she could start putting together a package to send back.

She should really include a few things for her family, too, and so she was also thinking of nice things to add that they might like, too, which meant she should definitely swing by Pick Your Poison at some point for some bath bombs for her mother, and she was feeling mildly astonished that she hadn't thought of that before now. Maybe she could even figure out how to make her own? That was somethings he was pretty sure her grandmother never had to offer!

It had been a while since they'd had a sangria night, and they were pretty much due. This time it was at Rey's apartment, which had her trying to clean up some since she didn't have people over much, and she was doing that despite the fact that she didn't have much of anything. Several years in and the place was still pretty bare bones aside from the mermaid sofa and assorted mismatched furniture.

She'd ordered pizza, and it had occurred to her that she hadn't asked if Summer was bringing the sangria or not, so she'd gotten a couple bottles of something and hoped it was okay, just in case. And if not, someone was going to have to have a party she could donate it to.

The top woodchuck quietly dropped down to the floor.

"You could just ask," Rey said, and it was a sign of how things were going here that she didn't wonder how they would do that.

Raiden was once again on the phone as his students arrived. "Pancake-themed art? It's upsetting...because I can't eat the pancakes. They're taunting me...glad we understand each other. Besides, if you're going to go that route you need to make it waffles or Gray will riot. Oh, I gotta go, my class is here. Just--pick something for the walls, okay? Something that's not pancakes."

Giving Castor a directive like that, he was going to end up with a Monet on the walls of his brunch spot, probably. At least it wasn't an Instagram wall?

"Sorry about that," Raiden told his students, "but speaking of pancakes, let's make some! And waffles," he added quickly, before a certain gremlin masquerading as his brother could open his mouth. "We are also going to make waffles. And French toast, the third member of this little trio of sweet breakfast options...although they can be made savory. These things are like a delicious canvas you can paint on. You can add fruit or nuts or chocolate chips to the pancakes or the waffles, or the sky's the limit when it comes to toppings.

"I've got a number of recipes--for pancakes, waffles, and French toast, plus a couple of fun variations, like the hash brown waffle or whole wheat waffles for when you want a little extra health and nutty flavor in your breakfast. We don't have time for it today but a French toast casserole is a great way to feed a crowd without having to stand over the stove all morning, so keep that in your back pocket for the future. So...yeah. Pick out your favorite form of breakfast--there are no wrong answers! Gray. There are no wrong answers." He was giving his brother a very stern look now, and possibly a telepathic directive to not evangelize waffles at people today. "And let's get to cooking! Remember, I'm here if you need any help."

Up at the School, the only things that was happening was Shenanigans down in the park, where Anakin inflicted socks upon the voluntolds, which needless to say certain people used as an excuse for flirting, because they cannot get a room, Stewart was very attached to his 'adorable shark' socks, baffling Hannibal. Then everyone had to balance tanks of mysterious liquid on their feet, to varying levels of success.

Nothing for the Dorms, while in Town, Adrian dipped his wick making candles at Pick Your Poison, while at Caritas, Tino implied there were others like him by claiming it was his brother's birthday, though neither person taking the stage seemed inclined to celebrate. Stark was...awkward, Stewart brought along dubious brownies, and Atton was remarkably judgemental for someone who deals with his problems by faking his death.

After talking with Charlie on Tuesday about Thor and his lightning, Stewart had gotten...ideas, and so in preparation for this month's Open Mic Night, he was doing a lot of work around the stage that day. Anyone coming into the shop needing assistance or wanting to buy something might need to wait for him to come down from the ladder as he was putting up clouds and lights over the stage, and dripping down other lights. And even once the visuals were in place, there was hooking it up to his rig where he could get the lights to either flash based on what was playing from the speakers or sort of set it up on a different kind of control during his set.

It wasn't quite what he envisioned. In the broad light of day, it definitely looked a little DIY high school theater, but maybe once it was time for the show and the lights were down, it would look dope as hell.

Guess time would tell. He just hoped he had enough time after setting it up to actually work on his set. He'd been weirdly busy this week and hadn't dedicated as much time to it as he usually would have.

They were two weeks out from the summer solstice, which meant that Adrian was busy, busy, busy! It wasn't as important a holiday as Beltane, of course, but it was still very important and powerful. To prepare, he was spending the day hand-dipping candles. It was a rather monotonous activity, but soothing in its own way; Adrian tended to fall into a kind of meditative zen when he was making candles.

Nearby were plenty of dried flowers, leaves, and herbs to decorate them with - Pam would be pleased to note that they were all local and non-endangered varieties. Because of course they were.

Surely this will end well for everybody!

Well, I hope not during class! Norse Life practiced axe throwing and I hope no one had to visit the clinic after it was over. Or while it was happening. The Wonderful World of Art was going to draw people but the only person who was willing to model was Tino so thankfully they had to draw fruit instead. And then there was Paintball! where Anakin probably cheated while everyone else was trying to shoot each other or buckets or both.

Nothing from the dorms, sorry Porg, so we’ll move on to the town.

Nell was grumpy and tired at her shop. I hope she’s all right. Charlie was more cheerful and listening to viking rock, I don’t know what that means, and Stewart approved of her musical choices. I suppose that’s good? Bucky was at the movie theatre with a lot of M&Ms and Jesse came in to visit him at work.

Finally I have that Gladio was at Atlas Gym with a magic treadmill or haunted treadmill or some sort of treadmill that won’t stop. Summer was there to fl- … to work out. And Nell came in to see Gladio and seemed to be doing much better than she was while she was at her shop. Good.

He demonstrated by one-handedly chucking an axe at a target, which it hit dead center. "Now you try. We shall make a bit of a competition of it, hmm? The winner gets a prize! “Morning, everyone,” Stark said. “Today we’ll be doing something that isn’t a new hobby for me but it may be for some of you. Today we’ll be baking. I thought we could start with brownies. Brownies are fairly simple but you can make adjustments to make them your own, if you like. Add different things. Extra chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, or maybe some fruit. Sprinkles? There are lots of choices.”

The choices available included some brownie mixes, a simple recipe and the necessary ingredients for it, and some moddable options for toppings and mix-ins.

“You can also make frosting for brownies, if you like. There’s a recipe for that as well as the one for the brownies.

“Baking is one of my favorite things to do. Keeps my hands busy and my mind busy and then there are delicious things to eat or to share or both once it’s finished. I’m trying to make brownies with espresso today. Just to try it out. I think they’ll be good. You can all have some when I’ve finished. If you like.”

It was just Jaina today, which was probably why you were getting the class that you were. She'd also told everyone to come to the park, since it was nice enough and grass was softer.

Today you're going to do trust falls," she said. "You stand with your back to another person and fall back, trusting that they're going to catch you. Which sort of takes the actual trust out of it. That's why today, you're going to do trust falls, but the catcher can decide whether or not they're actually going to catch the faller. Do you trust the person to save you? Can you be trusted to do the saving? And we're going to do a few rounds, so don't think you're safe if you get through it once."

Yep, this was definitely a Jaina-not-Jag class.

Jon was smiling. He was doing his best. It looked a bit pained.

"Today's tip for conversation is to be enthusiastic. You want to show enthusiasm for what people are discussing. So that's what we're going to practice. Each of you is going to choose a topic to discuss, and the others of us will be enthusiastic about it. Whether we are or not."

He waved note cards. "I have suggestions again if you can't think of something to talk about."

"I hope you're all ready for a game of 'I Spy,'" Ghanima laughed, handing out binnoculars as the students arrived. "Today we are heading to Hemis National Park, before the unofficial tourist-season opening, to look for their famed snow leopards!"

"Hemis is a high-elevation national park in Hemis in Leh district of Ladakh, India. The park has the highest density of snow leopards in any protected area in the world. However, Hemis functions very differently from other national parks and reserves in the country. You won’t find different wildlife zones or lodges here. And while the snow leopards are the park's main focus, with 200 breeding pairs, 16 mammal species and 73 bird species have been recorded in the park so far. You may see Argali, Bharal, Shapu, the Asiatic ibex, the Tibetan wolf, the Eurasian brown bear -- endangered in India -- Himalayan marmot, mountain weasel and the Himalayan mouse hare."

"Unlike many national parks, over 1,600 people live inside the park boundaries, mostly pastoralists raising poultry, goats, and sheep. This results in considerable animal-human conflict within the region. Snow leopards prey on livestock." Ghanima shrugged. "Often because the families are overgrazing their livestock outside the permitted bounds. It is a delicate balance between supporting the habitation of families that have been there for generations, and not overly interfearing with the snow leopards."

"The park also houses numerous Tibetan gompas and holy chortens within its boundaries. These include the famous 400-year-old Hemis Monastery. Hemis was a destination and via point on the silk routes of Tibet, and has long been a place of pilgrimage for Tibetan Buddhists. However, in the late 19th and early 20th century, the monastery attracted some attention due to the writings of Nicolas Notovitch, a Russian aristocrat and journalist, who claimed that Jesus had spent the missing years of his life in Tibet and Ladakh, specifically in Hemis."

The portal opened right as Ghanima finished speaking. "Right on time!" she laughed, taking Trebor's hand as he played with the binoculars hanging around his neck. "Let's go find some big cats!"

Stark had picked up rainbow cookies yesterday at JGoB that he brought for the nurses (and any visitors, honestly) along with the usual coffee delivery.

Stabby was painting a picture of rainbow lobsters in his tank, apparently in a creative mood again and no longer quite so obviously plotting something. For now.

The clinic was open, the crab was being artsy, and the alien was in.
